About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maximize insurance reimbursement by identifying contractual variances between posted payments and expected reimbursement
  • Analyze contractual reimbursement and communicate payment discrepancies to internal and external departments
  • Identify trends in underpayments and determine effective paths to resolution
  • Review large amounts of remittance data to locate charge or billing opportunities for revenue optimization
  • Communicate directly with payors regarding outstanding underpayments
  • File underpayment appeals and resolve account variances
  • Identify root causes of underpayments, denials, and delayed payments
  • Document activity in client host systems, Ensemble IQ, or other tracking systems
  • Compile and analyze data and report findings and trends to leadership
  • Collaborate with Managed Care, Billing, Coding, Revenue Integrity, and Payor Strategy departments
  • Assist with client and payor escalations
  • Use Ensemble IQ underpayment prediction rules to identify underpayments
  • Complete assigned projects and self-directed initiatives
  • Mentor associates and serve as a subject matter expert
  • Meet productivity and quality standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) required within 9 months of hire
  • 5 to 7 years of people leadership experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the hospital or physician insurance industry, or elsewhere in the revenue cycle, required
  • Keen and proven understanding of the revenue cycle and identification of underpaid accounts
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Ability to adapt to multiple client host systems
  • Experience with and ability to operate in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Ability to maintain understanding of applicable state and federal insurance regulations and payor-specific requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
