About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients receiving services at Ensemble Health Partners
  • Assign accurate medical record numbers and complete medical necessity or compliance checks
  • Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
  • Receive and process physician orders using an overlay tool
  • Provide excellent patient, client, and colleague customer service
  • Serve as the SMART for the department
  • Operate the telephone switchboard and relay calls
  • Use quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected
  • Develop training materials and programs for new hires
  • Provide continuing education to associates across revenue cycle functions
  • Develop staff schedules within the patient access department
  • Provide on-call, after-hours support and guidance, including covering unscheduled staffing needs
  • Collect point-of-service payments in emergency, outpatient, and inpatient settings
  • Conduct account audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access Leadership
  • Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and document witnesses
  • Review insurance eligibility responses and select applicable insurance plan codes
  • Enter benefit data to support point-of-service collections and billing processes
  • Pre-register patient accounts and make inbound and outbound calls to obtain patient and insurance information
  • Screen medical necessity using Advanced Beneficiary Notice software and distribute required forms
  • Perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1 to 3 years of job experience
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of revenue cycle, including admission, billing, payments, and denials
  • Comprehensive knowledge of patient insurance processes for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification
  • Knowledge of health insurance requirements
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT or procedure codes
  • Openness to innovation, including AI
  • Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States
  • Ability to work on-site at Ardent - Bailey Medical Center in Owasso, Oklahoma
  • Ability to work the ER Lead Monday through Friday, 13:30–22:00, with an on-call rotation
