About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle complex and/or challenging assignments, such as large deals or complex requests with larger relationship exposure, with little oversight
  • Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information
  • Prepare summaries, present facts, and offer opinions concerning creditworthiness
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
  • Work consultatively and attend customer calls with the Relationship Manager, as applicable, to support thorough underwriting
  • Prepare and spread business and personal financial statements and cash flows
  • Verify covenant compliance
  • Prepare loan approvals, annual reviews, and credit analyses for new requests, modifications, and short-term extensions of existing loans
  • Analyze accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports, work in progress reports, and borrowing base certificates
  • Accompany Commercial Loan Officers on customer and prospect calls, as relevant to Credit assignments
  • Participate in management discussions regarding the creditworthiness of proposed loan requests
  • Conduct third-party research, including industry reports, personal credit reports, and real estate analysis with market assessments
  • Prepare reports and handle special assignments
  • Act as peer mentor and trainer for junior-level Credit Analysts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4–6 years prior credit analysis or equivalent experience/capabilities
  • Previous experience as a credit analyst or loan officer
  • Bachelor's Degree; Business, finance, accounting major preferred, other majors with a business minor also acceptable
  • Strong comprehensive knowledge of C&I and/or CRE, including credit and risk analysis, credit rules, regulations, cash flow analysis, project economics and valuation, guarantor analysis, and market analysis
  • Thorough knowledge of underwriting, credit analysis, and commercial loan structure
  • Proficient in CRE and/or C&I lending, including debt service coverage, cash flow, construction budget, sources and uses, and identification of strengths/weaknesses and mitigating factors
  • Moderate to advanced understanding of accounting, statistics, and economics
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit products, market trends, and loan procedures
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, verbal, and written communication skills, including advanced business writing capabilities
  • Ability to lead and work cohesively in a team
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Advanced ability to manage time and multitask effectively
  • Advanced skill planning and managing projects
  • Ability to conduct financial research and present accessible reports to colleagues with differing backgrounds
  • Ability to make high-stakes decisions and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain client and business relationships
  • Strong interpersonal skills and advanced business acumen
  • Discretion and dedication to protecting sensitive information
  • Strong computer skills, including loan origination software and MS Office applications, specifically MS Word and Excel
