About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Commission, configure, set up, and test AC and Rapid DC EV chargers at client sites
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on EV charging stations
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues
  • Conduct diagnostic tests, firmware updates, and calibration of EV chargers
  • Replace faulty components and occasionally entire AC chargers in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
  • Collaborate with Service Coordination, Operations, project management, and installation teams
  • Ensure accurate job completion data and timely service-report follow-up
  • Provide on-site technical support and training to clients
  • Respond promptly to service requests and maintain effective client communication
  • Maintain company assets, tools, and test equipment; report defects immediately
  • Document repairs, maintenance, and customer interactions in the service management system
  • Adhere to safety regulations, company policies, local electrical codes, and industry standards
  • Participate in required safety training and certifications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a field-based engineering role involving commissioning, maintenance, or repair of electrical systems/equipment
  • Ability to work independently on client sites and resolve technical issues without direct supervision
  • Experience working in SLA-driven environments
  • Familiarity with multimeters and voltage testers
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and repair complex technical issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction
  • Ability to manage time effectively while travelling between client sites
  • Valid UK driving licence with 6 penalty points or less
  • BS7671:2018 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) desirable
  • City & Guilds 2391/2394 Testing and Inspection desirable
  • Previous experience in EV charging, renewable energy, or power electronics desirable
  • EV charging station certification or manufacturer-specific training desirable
  • Hands-on experience commissioning, maintaining, and repairing Rapid DC, Ultra, and HPC EV chargers desirable
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical manuals desirable
  • Understanding of analogue and digital electronics and components desirable
  • Awareness of electrical hazards and on-site health and safety requirements desirable
