About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide advice and support to applicants and delegated decision makers for the import and manufacture of hazardous substances
- Liaise with submitters, applicants, and other government agencies on statutory decision making
- Manage a busy workload of applications
- Work across a range of legislation and work streams
- Build strong, positive connections with customers
- Contribute to the success of the Environmental Protection Authority
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in regulatory systems
- Relevant tertiary qualification preferable
- Experience working with the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, the Ozone Layer Protection Act, the Import and Export Restrictions Act 1988, or similar
- Excellent communication, relationship building and reporting skills
- Ability to deliver great customer service as part of a proactive regulator
- Self-motivated and driven to deliver under pressure
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and achieve results within tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Sound judgement, common sense, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Proven ability to analyse technical material, comprehend information, identify and manage risks, and communicate information simply
- Flexible and adaptable
- Entitlement to legally work in New Zealand
- Already located in New Zealand
