About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist individuals with disabilities in achieving and maintaining maximum functioning in independent community living
  • Monitor and assist residents with personal grooming and appearance
  • Transport and accompany residents to appointments, services, and day program sites
  • Supervise and assist residents with medication according to program guidelines
  • Help residents prepare daily schedules involving household chores, social activities, meetings, and appointments
  • Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties including vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and mopping
  • Monitor and assist with daily bedroom maintenance
  • Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies
  • Plan menus and assist with meal preparation
  • Provide direct hands-on support in a residential CILA setting
  • Physically assist with personal hygiene, grooming, daily living tasks, lifting, and transferring
  • Perform other essential responsibilities as needed to meet program requirements
  • No supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED (required proof)
  • Be able to pass a background check
  • Reliable transportation
  • DSP experience preferred
  • Must complete all required training and certifications within the specified timelines
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Safety Care Training
  • OIG Training
  • Registration on the Healthcare Workforce Registry (HCWR) portal as a DD Aide within 120 days of hire
  • Become an Authorized Direct Support Professional (ADSP) within 150 days of hire
  • OJT Packet completion within 120 days of hire for DSPs needing DSP certification
  • Defensive Driving Training within 1 week of hire
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, transferring, and light housekeeping
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when responding to hostile or verbally aggressive behavior
  • Ability to follow agency-approved crisis prevention, de-escalation, safety, Health and Safety, Aggression Management, First Aid, and CPR procedures
