About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across government departments, agencies, and public sector organisations
  • Act as a trusted advisor on geospatial and data-related challenges
  • Lead workshops, discovery activities, and requirements-gathering sessions
  • Translate complex business problems into practical geospatial, data, and information management solutions
  • Develop business cases, strategic roadmaps, target operating models, and implementation plans
  • Provide consultancy and advisory services across geospatial strategy, data governance, information management, and digital transformation
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support programme and project delivery through governance, assurance, stakeholder engagement, and risk management
  • Design and implement geospatial data management and information architecture solutions
  • Support procurement, integration, migration, and adoption of geospatial platforms and technologies
  • Define and promote best practices for metadata management, data quality, information governance, and data lifecycle management
  • Develop and review data models, technical specifications, solution designs, and integration approaches
  • Support implementation of GIS platforms, data services, APIs, and cloud-based geospatial solutions
  • Conduct geospatial data analysis, transformation, and quality assessment
  • Provide specialist expertise in spatial databases, geospatial standards, interoperability, and enterprise geospatial architectures
  • Collaborate with architects, data engineers, GIS specialists, software developers, and delivery teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience building trusted client relationships and communicating with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience developing business cases, strategic recommendations, and transformation roadmaps
  • Experience in data governance, information management, change delivery, and operating model design
  • Experience supporting programmes and projects within structured governance frameworks, ideally within the UK public sector
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, FME, GeoServer, or equivalent GIS platforms
  • Experience with geospatial data management, metadata standards, data quality, and governance frameworks
  • Experience with spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, or Oracle Spatial
  • Experience with APIs, data integration, ETL processes, and cloud-based geospatial solutions
  • Knowledge of open standards, interoperability, and modern deployment approaches
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC security clearance
