About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement commodity strategies aligned with the sourcing strategy and program objectives
- Develop knowledge of the supply market, cost drivers, technology trends, and supplier landscape
- Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP processes, supplier evaluations, and make-or-buy analyses
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to select suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, long-term agreements, terms and conditions, and aftermarket provisions
- Develop should-cost models and total cost of ownership analyses
- Manage the commodity budget and drive cost-reduction roadmaps
- Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for suppliers
- Monitor supplier performance in quality, on-time delivery, cost, and responsiveness
- Lead business reviews and corrective action plans
- Support new product introduction, supplier development, and supplier qualification
- Ensure part readiness for first article inspection, certification, and ramp-up
- Secure the capacity and deliveries required to meet final assembly rates and aftermarket objectives
- Identify and mitigate commodity-related risks, including single-source dependency, financial health, capacity, raw materials, and geopolitical factors
- Maintain mitigation plans and dual-sourcing strategies
- Integrate sustainability and ethical sourcing into supplier selection and contracts
- Ensure compliance with export control, conflict minerals, and aerospace regulatory requirements
- Contribute to standardized work, processes, and sourcing tools, and share market intelligence with the Supply Chain team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or commodity management, ideally in aerospace or another highly complex, regulated industry
- Strong knowledge of one or more relevant commodities, including machined and structural parts, composites, electrical and electronic components, wiring harnesses, or systems and equipment
- Proven experience negotiating complex contracts and long-term agreements, with measurable cost and commercial results
- Strong financial and analytical capabilities, including should-cost modeling, total cost of ownership analysis, and spend analysis
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Experience with an ERP system, such as SAP, is an asset
- Experience with procurement for development programs, from preliminary design through qualification and ramp-up
- Ability to build strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders and influence without direct authority
- Knowledge of AS9100, first article inspection, and ITAR / Canada's Controlled Goods Program export control requirements is an asset
- Commitment to sustainable and ethical sourcing practices
- Fluency in French and English is an asset
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Engineering
- Professional certification, such as SCMP or CPSM, is an asset
