About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance services on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components
  • Perform oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks, battery service, belt and hose inspections, and other routine maintenance
  • Inspect and service brakes, tires, lighting systems, suspension components, and other vehicle systems
  • Diagnose basic mechanical, electrical, and operational issues and recommend necessary repairs
  • Complete minor repairs and component replacements within assigned skill level
  • Document maintenance, inspections, repairs, parts, and labor in the fleet maintenance system
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly use shop tools and equipment
  • Follow company safety policies, manufacturer procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Communicate vehicle condition, repair needs, and safety concerns to supervisors and fleet management
  • Help maintain fleet availability by completing assigned PM services efficiently and on schedule
  • Perform other duties related to fleet maintenance as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in fleet, automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, or related maintenance preferred
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and maintenance procedures
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance inspections and identify potential mechanical problems
  • Ability to read and follow service manuals, maintenance schedules, and written procedures
  • Basic computer skills and ability to accurately complete electronic maintenance records
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced fleet shop environment
  • Experience maintaining commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment preferred
  • Diesel maintenance experience preferred
  • Familiarity with computerized fleet maintenance management systems preferred
  • Ability to operate shop equipment such as lifts, diagnostic tools, air systems, and other maintenance equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined or awkward positions for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work safely around vehicles, machinery, lubricants, tools, and shop equipment
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
