About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform same-day repairs on lighter heavy-duty vehicles
- Service vehicles in the shop and on site using a company service truck
- Repair brakes, wheel seals and bearings, air leaks and airbags, A/C and electrical systems, and tires
- Perform forced regens
- Complete DOT and trailer inspections
- Drive the company service truck to customer sites
- Complete work orders and inspection paperwork
- Work with customers and management
- Receive training at the Sweetwater shop if coming from automotive with some diesel experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- Valid driver's license required
- 2+ years of hands-on experience as a mechanical technician (diesel, heavy-duty, or automotive)
- At least some hands-on diesel or semi-truck experience
- Working knowledge of air brakes, wheel seals and bearings, and proper torque procedures
- Working knowledge of A/C systems, electrical, tires, PM services, and diagnostic equipment
- Able to perform inspections to FMCSA standards
- Texas Commercial Inspector Certification, or ability to obtain it
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Basic computer skills for work orders
- Clear communication with customers and management
- Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance and stand, bend, or kneel for long periods
- Able to work various shift schedules
- Semi-truck and trailer repair experience, ASE certification, forced regens, heavy-duty disc brakes, airbag suspension, mobile or on-site fleet repair, and DOT inspection paperwork experience are advantageous
