About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors with minimal trailer work, including brakes, electrical, hydraulic, A/C, engine, exhaust, systems, components, and after-treatment systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections
- Service and replace tires, hubs, axles, lift-gates, and other parts
- Write work orders and open/close repair orders on a company device for mobile road calls and in-yard work
- Inspect tractors and trailers to meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements
- Manage service truck inventory and source parts from local vendors
- Complete inspection reports and DOT documentation accurately and on time
- Deliver strong customer service and report findings to management
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience repairing Commercial Class 8 Semi-Tractors with occasional trailer work
- Experience performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and no suspensions
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Comfortable working with computers for billing and work orders
- Ability to follow verbal and written work orders
- Ability to explain a diagnosis over the phone and help customers decide next steps on repairs
- Self-motivated with excellent organization and planning skills
- Experience with stick welding is beneficial
- Own tools are beneficial
- Certifications are a plus, including EPA 608/609/Universal and ASE
