About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide personalized attention, professional instruction, and exercise programming to maximize members' health, fitness, and wellness goals
- Learn and work alongside fitness industry experts in cutting-edge facilities
- Complete projects that bridge academic knowledge with real-world personal training experience
- Study one injury per week, documenting causes, signs and symptoms, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention
- Become familiar with relevant fitness specialties and certifications
- Design programs based on selected trainers' personal training goals, injuries, and athletic history
- Research hypertension, diabetes, pregnancy, and cardiovascular disease, including exercise benefits, helpful exercises, and exercises to avoid
- Meet weekly with a supervisor to review progress and set upcoming actions
- Participate in member experience and engagement activities, including Fitness Specialist shifts, front desk support, and member outreach
Requirements
What you’ll need- Students must be eligible to earn academic credit for their work
- At least 2-years completion towards an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Personal Training, or another applicable major preferred
- An outgoing and personable disposition, able to socialize with others
- A passion for fitness and helping others reach their health and wellness goals
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Customer-service orientation and ability to understand or quickly grasp customer priorities and terminology
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Results-oriented with ability to organize, prioritize and manage time
- Previous Personal Training experience preferred but not required
