About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver bankable wind resource and energy yield assessments for utility-scale wind projects
  • Support technical due diligence assignments for project financing, mergers and acquisitions, and portfolio evaluations
  • Develop and optimize wind turbine layouts while considering environmental, engineering, and permitting constraints
  • Analyze meteorological and operational performance data to determine energy yield and identify risks and opportunities
  • Provide inputs for design, environmental studies, and project economics
  • Contribute to ERM's energy yield methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Independently manage technical workstreams within larger project assignments
  • Prepare technical reports, client presentations, and due diligence deliverables
  • Support proposal development through scope preparation, effort estimation, and technical inputs
  • Participate in client meetings and respond to technical questions
  • Review and QA/QC technical analyses and deliverables
  • Evaluate technical risks and opportunities associated with wind projects
  • Collaborate with global teams and subject matter experts
  • Contribute to methodology development, automation initiatives, and process improvements
  • Support training and development of junior analysts where appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Solid academic background in atmospheric sciences or related engineering field (Meteorology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering)
  • Minimum 5 years of technical consulting, engineering, or operational experience within the energy / infrastructure sectors
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Experience performing wind data quality control, validation, and meteorological data analysis
  • Familiarity with Measure-Correlate-Predict (MCP) methodologies and long-term resource correction techniques
  • Understanding of wind farm loss calculations, including wake losses, electrical losses, turbine performance, environmental losses, and availability assumptions
  • Familiarity with uncertainty assessments and P50/P75/P90 energy production estimates
  • Knowledge of IEC 61400-15 and wind resource assessment best practices
  • Experience working with met mast, lidar, and reanalysis datasets
  • Preferred: experience preparing lender's technical advisor or independent engineer style energy yield assessments
  • Preferred: experience supporting project financing, acquisitions, or technical due diligence activities
  • Preferred: knowledge of onshore and offshore wind resource assessments
  • Preferred: familiarity with CFD-based flow modelling and mesoscale-to-microscale wind resource modelling
  • Preferred: experience analysing operational wind farm performance and SCADA datasets
  • Preferred: working knowledge of solar energy yield assessment methodologies
  • Preferred: Python programming and workflow automation experience
