About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead creative work across stakeholder engagement campaigns, brand storytelling, digital experiences, sustainability reporting, and pitch and agency deck design/layout
  • Lead design on client engagements from creative concept through execution
  • Lead, mentor, and develop graphic designers
  • Provide expectations and feedback for projects and career development
  • Consult with client teams and clients on communications in the digital space
  • Balance workloads across multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Own projects from early concept through final delivery
  • Ensure work is strategically aligned and flawlessly executed
  • Develop design-specific sales opportunities, prepare estimates, and contribute to proposals
  • Participate in hands-on design, collaboration, and creative problem-solving
  • Build trusted internal and external relationships
  • Research and report on design trends
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding
  • Present design work, answer questions, and provide strategic insight on client calls
  • Help set and manage client design project schedules
  • Oversee design rules and processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent experience
  • 4-6+ years of professional graphic design experience
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Impressive portfolio showcasing digital, print, interactive, and branding work
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and page layout
  • Experience or strength in people leadership
  • Strong client communications and ability to lead design-focused discussions
  • Ability to multitask and work with shifting deadlines
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary
  • Digital strategy and best-practice knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal, diplomacy, tact, assertiveness, conflict-management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure
  • Ability to integrate DEI&B into leadership culture
  • Marketing, communications, and advertising experience preferred
  • Experience estimating design budgets preferred
  • Familiarity with AI design tools preferred
  • Data and infographic design experience preferred
  • Experience with major social and digital engagement platforms preferred
  • Website and PDF accessibility experience preferred
  • Multi-page editorial layout design experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Microsoft Office preferred
  • UX/UI design knowledge preferred
  • CSS and HTML knowledge preferred
  • Experience with Slack, Teams, and Monday.com preferred
  • Experience managing outside vendors preferred
  • Video and animation production experience preferred
  • Illustration experience preferred
  • 3D rendering experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Workiva and InDesign integration preferred
  • Sustainability and consulting experience preferred
