About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and deliver EHS compliance and management system projects that reduce risk and strengthen regulatory performance
  • Lead and execute EHS due diligence for transactions, identifying material risks, liabilities, and compliance gaps
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, shaping EHS strategy and driving long-term program success
  • Build and expand client relationships, generate repeat business, and contribute to regional growth
  • Support proposals, client discussions, and expansion of M&A services within existing accounts
  • Translate complex EHS findings into clear, decision-ready insights, including risk prioritization and cost implications
  • Support deal execution through timely, high-quality deliverables
  • Advise clients on post-close integration strategies, including Day 1 readiness, compliance alignment, and risk mitigation planning
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to evaluate specialized risks such as air, waste, and PFAS
  • Mentor and develop talent, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment
  • Lead EHS compliance audits, assessments, and corrective actions across client operations
  • Manage complex due diligence projects, including multi-site portfolios, in accordance with ASTM Phase I standards and global protocols
  • Oversee multiple projects end-to-end within scope, schedule, and budget
  • Collaborate with Partners-in-Charge, Project Managers, and global teams to resource and deliver projects
  • Develop and implement EHS management systems and regulatory compliance programs covering air, water, waste, and spill prevention
  • Provide on-site technical support and compliance expertise at client facilities
  • Advise legal, corporate, and private equity clients on EHS risks, liabilities, and transaction opportunities
  • Prepare reports evaluating environmental liabilities, compliance status, and operational risks
  • Design and guide corporate EHS strategies aligned with regulatory requirements and client objectives
  • Collaborate across ERM’s global network to share best practices and deliver consistent, high-quality solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS compliance, management systems, sustainability programs, and permitting advisory services
  • Strong technical expertise in environmental and/or safety disciplines, including air quality, stormwater, SPCC, and hazardous waste
  • Proven project management skills, including oversight of budgets, timelines, and high-quality technical outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including leading initiatives, delegating work, and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear, concise technical reports and client deliverables
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship
  • Preferred: 7+ years of relevant experience, including consulting background
  • Preferred: Advanced degree, such as MS or MPH
  • Preferred: Professional certifications, such as CSP, PE, or CHMM
  • Preferred: Experience developing corporate EHS management systems and maintaining compliance standards
  • Preferred: Proven success in business development, proposal writing, and client growth
