About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and oversee archaeological studies and cultural resource projects from planning through completion
- Serve as a technical advisor to clients and regulatory stakeholders
- Develop new business opportunities and strengthen long-term client partnerships
- Mentor and inspire archaeologists and cultural resource professionals
- Contribute to multidisciplinary environmental and impact assessment projects
- Oversee literature reviews, field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation
- Provide technical consulting to grow ERM's archaeology and cultural heritage business and client base
- Share multidisciplinary resources and best practices across ERM offices
- Represent ERM in communications and meetings with state, federal, and local agencies
- Communicate regularly with clients by email and phone conferences
- Oversee and manage subcontractors
- Assist with proposals
- Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations
- Lead, manage performance, hire, retain, inspire, and mentor technical team personnel
- Expand ERM's Cultural Resource market profile and market share through technical excellence and business development
- Partner with colleagues to deepen key-client relationships and establish new relationships
- Participate on teams of impact assessment professionals across ERM's global organization
- Interact with State Historic Preservation Offices, federal agencies, and online cultural resource databases
- Lead and supervise staff in office settings and/or during fieldwork
- Conduct research and prepare technical reports
- Potentially conduct fieldwork
- Provide technical assistance throughout the United States while supporting regional project delivery and business development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field plus 8 or more years of related paid experience, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion
- Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits
- Experience completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery
- Experience as primary author on agency-reviewed technical reports
- Strong attention to detail in documentation of work
- Proficiency in cultural resource permitting regulations, including FERC, USACE, and THC
- Excellent communication and computer skills
- Demonstrated business development abilities and ability to maintain long-term client relationships
- Ability to manage and work within a team and independently
- Limited travel within the United States
- Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and experience, confidence, and stature to address client and business needs and challenges
- Valid driver's license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle
- Demonstrated regional, high-level consulting experience
- Familiarity with federal, state, and municipal regulatory processes
- Position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship
- Preferred: experience interacting with regulatory agency personnel
- Preferred: previous experience with energy-related projects and undertakings
- Preferred: previous laboratory materials processing experience
- Preferred: previous experience supervising personnel and direct reports
