About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and oversee archaeological studies and cultural resource projects from planning through completion
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and regulatory stakeholders
  • Drive business growth by developing new opportunities and strengthening long-term client partnerships
  • Mentor and inspire teams of archaeologists and cultural resource professionals
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary projects integrating cultural resources into broader environmental and impact assessment programs
  • Oversee literature review, field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation
  • Provide technical consulting to grow ERM's archaeology and cultural heritage business and client base
  • Share multidisciplinary resources and best practices across ERM practice areas and offices
  • Represent ERM in communications and meetings with state, federal, and local agencies
  • Communicate regularly with clients by email and phone conferences
  • Oversee and manage subcontractors
  • Assist with preparing proposals
  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, schedule, and quality expectations
  • Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire, and mentor technical team personnel
  • Expand ERM's profile and market share through technical excellence and business development
  • Partner with colleagues to deepen key client relationships and establish new relationships generating net revenue growth
  • Participate on teams of impact assessment professionals across ERM's global organization
  • Interact with State Historic Preservation Offices, federal agencies, and online cultural resource databases
  • Lead and supervise staff in an office setting and/or during fieldwork
  • Perform research and prepare technical reports
  • Potentially conduct fieldwork
  • Provide technical assistance throughout the United States while supporting regional project delivery and business development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field plus 8 or more years of related paid experience, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to carry research to completion
  • Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits
  • Experience completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery
  • Experience as primary author on agency-reviewed technical reports
  • Strong attention to detail in documentation of work
  • Proficiency in cultural resource permitting regulations, including FERC, USACE, and THC
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Demonstrated business development abilities and ability to maintain long-term client relationships
  • Ability to manage and work within a team and independently
  • Ability to perform limited travel within the United States
  • Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills, unquestioned integrity, and experience addressing client and business needs
  • Valid driver's license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle required
  • Demonstrated regional, high-level consulting experience
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and municipal regulatory processes
  • Not eligible for immigration sponsorship
  • Preferred: experience interacting with regulatory agency personnel
  • Preferred: experience with energy-related projects and undertakings
  • Preferred: laboratory materials processing experience
  • Preferred: experience supervising personnel and direct reports
  • Preferred: strong oral and written communication skills
  • Preferred: strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
