About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Guide clients through complex safety and risk challenges across high-hazard industries
  • Design and implement safety programs to improve performance, reduce risk, and strengthen compliance
  • Lead multidisciplinary safety and process safety projects, audits, assessments, studies, and strategic program development
  • Mentor and develop technical professionals and help grow ERM's Safety and Risk practice
  • Build trusted client relationships and generate repeat business
  • Conduct electrical safety program assessments against OSHA and NFPA 70E
  • Perform electrical shock and arc flash risk assessments
  • Review arc flash, short-circuit, and protective device coordination studies
  • Evaluate electrical safe work practices, energized work procedures, and lockout/tagout programs
  • Conduct fire and life safety assessments for existing and new facilities
  • Evaluate fire code, building code, and fire protection standards compliance
  • Support permit applications, equivalency requests, and variance submissions
  • Evaluate lithium-ion battery storage, charging, and deployment operations
  • Support compliance evaluations against NFPA 855, IFC, UL standards, and local regulations
  • Design solutions addressing construction safety, management systems, SIF prevention, process safety, machine safety, and safety culture
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and risk-control verification
  • Coach leaders and frontline personnel on safety leadership
  • Conduct field-based assessments and observations
  • Deliver training, field coaching, workshops, and targeted assessments
  • Collaborate with ERM account teams, Principals, Partners, and global technical experts
  • Develop proposals, win new work, and support project delivery within scope, budget, schedule, and client expectations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Safety, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 4+ years of consulting experience supporting organizations in safety management, risk management, EHS performance improvement, leadership development, or safety culture initiatives
  • Experience managing client relationships, preparing proposals and contracts, and contributing to business development activities
  • Strong background in high-hazard industrial or construction environments
  • Experience supporting construction safety programs on active project sites, including contractor and subcontractor oversight
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) and Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)
  • Experience participating in daily work planning, including toolbox talks and pre-task planning
  • Ability to conduct field observations, evaluate risk controls, and assess safety programs and procedures
  • Strong project and program management capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, technical report writing, and client presentations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently across multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%
  • Passion for safety excellence and continuous improvement
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship
  • Preferred: CESCP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE, or similar certifications
  • Preferred: 6+ years of consulting experience
  • Preferred experience in safety transformation, behavioral safety, safety leadership development, workshops, training, SIF prevention, process safety, incident investigations, root cause analyses, compliance audits, safety assessments, ISO 45001/14001, leadership coaching, and organizational culture change
