About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead audits for EHS compliance, management systems, and sustainability frameworks, independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop strategies, processes, and tools that strengthen client EHS programs and support long-term operational excellence.
  • Support ERM’s Safe and Sustainable Operations team in meeting international mining standards, including ICMM, CopperMark, Cyanide Code, and TSM requirements.
  • Manage national and global projects while maintaining focus on safety, efficiency, quality, and client service.
  • Deliver training programs, in-field coaching, and presentations that support organizational learning and capability building.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships that drive repeat business, trusted partnerships, and long-term growth.
  • Collaborate across ERM’s global network to share best practices, leverage technical expertise, and develop innovative solutions for complex EHS challenges.
  • Provide expert guidance, conduct comprehensive audits, and develop risk management strategies to improve compliance, EHS performance, and sustainability.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, sustainability, health & safety science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of EHS experience in consulting or industry, ideally with exposure in Canada and internationally.
  • Proven ability to assess EHS management systems across high-hazard sectors (mining, oil & gas, petrochemicals, pulp & paper, power generation).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with EHS risk identification, assessment, and management.
  • Experience leading incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Experience leading EHS audits.
  • Dynamic communication skills with the ability to engage senior leaders and frontline teams alike.
  • Willingness to travel on multi-day audits.
  • Valid driver's license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in environmental, sustainability, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: 12+ years of EHS experience in consulting or industry, ideally with exposure in Canada and internationally.
  • Lead auditor training in ISO-based standards (ISO 19011, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Professional certifications such as EP (EMS LA), EP (CEA), CSRP, P.Eng., or similar.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and digital solutions for EHS systems.
  • Bilingual in French, Spanish, and/or English.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset and bias for action.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, peer collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and make decisions with incomplete information.
  • High emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Proven ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated examples of learning from experience.
  • Practical understanding of how technology and data can improve EHS performance and operational effectiveness.
