Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain mainframe applications and libraries for large-scale banking databases
  • Help shape applications for the future by building efficient and stable libraries and modern microservices
  • Perform planning, requirements analysis, implementation, and operation across the application lifecycle
  • Collaborate with decentralized programmers and infrastructure, George, payment transactions, and data warehouse teams
  • Analyze faults and troubleshoot to ensure smooth operation of products
  • Improve existing systems and create Functional & Technical Specifications and software/process documentation
  • Develop secure and fault-tolerant software
  • Participate in agile teams and take responsibility for defined tasks
  • Occasionally perform night or weekend duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proficiency in Natural/Adabas
  • Comfort working in a mainframe environment and familiarity with decentralized programmers
  • Strong interest in leveraging AI-assisted development tools
  • Ability to collaborate with decentralized programmers on an equal footing
  • Strong knowledge of application lifecycle: planning, requirements analysis, implementation, and operation
  • Several years of work experience, preferably in the banking industry
  • Experience in software development and knowledge of Cobol/DB2, ADABAS/Natural, SQL, CICS, ISPF, and JCL on IBM Mainframe zOS
  • Experience developing secure and fault-tolerant software
  • Knowledge of SQL databases such as Oracle and Postgres
  • Ability to work in a team; reliability, resilience, self-motivation, and analytical ability
  • Ability to explain complex contexts in a generally understandable way
  • Ability to iterate quickly without sacrificing quality and attention to detail
  • Passion for improving existing systems and creating Functional & Technical Specifications and software/process documentation
  • Commitment to learning and sharing knowledge
  • Comfort working in agile teams and taking responsibility for defined tasks
  • Strong communication skills in German and English
  • Willingness to perform occasional night or weekend duties
