About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide expert commercial advice and risk identification to internal and external stakeholders
  • Administer traditional re-measurable, D&B and EPC contracts
  • Mentor junior staff and enhance collaboration
  • Develop and update commercial contract and cost-management procedures
  • Deliver commercial management services throughout the project lifecycle for Networks projects
  • Prepare commercial tender enquiry documentation and bills of quantities using ARM 5
  • Assess and critically evaluate tenders with ESB procurement functions
  • Monitor civil works and other project costs throughout the lifecycle
  • Advise on cost accrual versus Capex approval
  • Negotiate complex commercial matters and disputes, contract awards, claims and final accounts
  • Liaise with design professionals, ESB partners, contractors and stakeholders
  • Travel to project locations as required within Ireland
  • Report to the Pre-CA Team Lead in Networks Civil & Environmental Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of five years post-graduate experience
  • Good knowledge of the administration of the main conditions of contract, including FIDIC Conditions of Contract
  • Detailed knowledge in cost estimating, tendering, post-tender evaluation and assessment, and pre-contract negotiation
  • Detailed knowledge in cost control reporting and management
  • Flexible approach to work, especially for excellent stakeholder management service
  • Self-motivation and ability to project-manage own work and coordinate with colleagues
  • Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies to develop junior staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full driver’s licence valid for use in the Republic of Ireland and own car
  • Level 8 Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent work experience
  • Experience using Cubit software would be advantageous
  • Experience in Civil Engineering / Utility project contracts exceeding €10m would be advantageous
  • Chartered status in a recognised professional institution would be advantageous
  • Recent experience managing a Commercial team would be advantageous
  • Evidence of right to work in the Republic of Ireland / UK required before commencement
