About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and develop network infrastructure across more than 100 police buildings in Kent and Essex
  • Support data centre network services, network security, wireless technology, and voice including ACD systems
  • Recognise and mitigate network security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Support critical services including 999 control rooms
  • Work within the Network Services Team supporting IT and policing colleagues
  • Learn and support the organisation’s network technologies
  • Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota, 1 week in 4
  • Visit police sites as required
  • Regularly attend Northfleet Team Zone one or two days per week if based in Kent and home working is agreed
  • Regularly attend Chelmsford HQ if based in Essex and home working is agreed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven and demonstrable network experience, including supporting and developing network infrastructure
  • Network security experience, including recognising threats and vulnerabilities and mitigating security threats
  • Experience working in a 3rd line role
  • Firewall and/or voice experience
  • Cisco qualification(s) (desirable)
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies (desirable)
  • ITIL experience (desirable)
  • Willingness and ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, 1 week in 4
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday office hours, 37 hours per week
  • Required vetting and security clearance
  • Applicants must be UK residents who have lived continuously in the UK for the last three years, with indefinite leave to remain and no restrictions; UK applicants must also have lived continuously in the UK for the last three years, subject to the stated British Armed Forces exception
