About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and maintain robust, high-performance, and secure Java applications
Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices
Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices
Support team developers through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and pair programming
Contribute to the collective development of skills and the adoption of technical standards
Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure the quality and reliability of delivered solutions
Contribute to improving development, automation, and delivery processes
Proactively propose ways to use AI tools in development practices and team methodologies
Design and implement solutions for the Passerelle squad, responsible for connections to the Visa, Mastercard, and CB payment networks
Act as the technical reference within the squad

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
At least 6 years of experience in Java backend development in complex environments
Significant experience developing critical or highly transactional systems
Experience supporting, mentoring, or facilitating technical team activities is a plus
Fluent French (C2) and professional English (B2–C1)
Excellent command of Java and its ecosystem
Strong knowledge of software architecture and object-oriented design
Experience with distributed environments, APIs, transactional systems, and service-oriented architectures
Strong command of CI/CD practices, software quality, and automated testing
Awareness of performance, resilience, and observability challenges
Ability to take a broader view of technical issues and guide engineering decisions
Experience in demanding environments requiring rigor, reliability, and high-quality delivery
A culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
Natural technical leadership and the ability to help others grow
Excellent communication, teaching, and ability to explain complex concepts clearly
Enjoyment of collaborative work and knowledge sharing
Technological curiosity and a strong interest in AI applications for software development
