About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Teach Middle/Upper School physical education classes
- Teach sports skills, team sports, fitness classes, recreational activities, and swimming
- Collaborate with colleagues by sharing resources and communicating about curriculum and students
- Prepare for and communicate student performance and growth details with parents/guardians at scheduled conferences
- Address student behavioral issues and classroom challenges to maintain a safe, calm environment
- Maintain accurate student records, including grades and attendance
- Encourage students' social and emotional growth
- Ensure confidentiality of student information
- Attend departmental, divisional, and school-wide meetings as required
- Maintain compliance with school policies, state regulations, and educational standards
- Perform other related projects and duties as needed and assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelor's degree in physical education or a related field is required
- Prior experience and proven ability in teaching physical education in grades 6-12
- Ability to teach different methods and strategies to meet students' needs
- Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with faculty, administrators, students, parents, and the overall community
- Commitment to cultural competency and fostering an inclusive environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively, stay organized, and prioritize required tasks
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and proficiency in utilizing and learning new technologies, including Google Workspace tools
- Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification highly recommended
- Swimming Certification recommended
