About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work with the Head of Compliance in the day-to-day operation of the local compliance framework
Execute assigned elements of the local compliance strategy and framework
Contribute to development of local compliance team members as directed by the Head of Compliance
Carry out assigned elements of the compliance monitoring plan, including monitoring, surveillance, and subsequent reviews
Advise staff and senior management on regulatory, policy, and procedural issues and their application
Handle assigned client inquiries, requests for information, and client complaints
Identify, log, and escalate compliance issues, policy and regulatory breaches, and assist with their resolution
Review and update compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory changes
Prepare and coordinate timely completion and filing of assigned regulatory and AML reports with the regulator
Prepare compliance management information for the Head of Compliance, SEO, Board, and Group Senior Management
Provide input on regulatory implications of future business strategies
Stay up to date with local and international regulatory developments, particularly FSRA policy updates, Central Bank of the UAE guidance, and international best practice
Partner with the company's MLRO on AML/CTF policies and oversight of KYC and EDD review processes
Remain familiar with AML processes and systems to ensure seamless coverage when required
Develop and maintain positive relationships with regulators and respond to information requests from the FSRA and other UAE competent authorities
Deliver and coordinate compliance training across the business
Promote a culture of compliance among team members and business processes

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 5 years of relevant compliance experience in financial services
Substantial experience with ADGM/FSRA-regulated firms or another UAE/local financial services regulator
Experience building and maintaining working relationships with regulators
Direct experience working with the FSRA and/or other ADGM or local UAE regulators required
Experience in a deputy or second-in-command compliance role preferred
Ability to advise the Board, senior management, and Group colleagues on complex regulatory issues
Experience successfully managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
Ability to work to short timelines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Eligible to hold, or obtain approval for, an FSRA Approved Person / Authorized Individual function, where required for the position
Experience with digital assets highly preferred
