About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead analytical aspects of the product lifecycle, from sizing opportunities through measuring success via experimentation for machine learning squads
- Collaborate with Ads Marketplace leads to define key analysis questions
- Conduct rigorous analysis and produce insights to improve models powering Etsy Ads
- Define metrics for robust measurement of product performance
- Partner with product managers, engineers, and applied scientists
- Guide partner teams with data and insights
- Tell the story of how Etsy attracts and retains users to teams, senior management, and the community
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of experience as a data scientist or data analyst independently extracting meaning from big data sets with little engineering support
- 1+ year of experience as a data scientist or data analyst developing, evaluating, or analyzing machine learning model performance
- Track record of guiding product teams to identify high-impact opportunities, set meaningful goals against key outcomes, and make data-driven decisions
- Experience working in a two-sided marketplace environment
- Mastery of SQL
- Proficiency in R or Python
- Experience with the Spark ecosystem is a bonus
- Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other data visualization software is a bonus
- Experience crafting and analyzing online experiments with a good understanding of A/B testing
- Ability to conduct sophisticated analyses and use advanced statistical methods, including Propensity Score Matching, Causal Impact, and Regression Models
- Ability to distill complex insights into compelling narratives for senior executives, verbally and visually
