Key responsibilities & impact

Lead engineering plans for challenging problems by breaking complex tasks into manageable components and identifying and estimating milestones
Mentor junior team members to produce high-quality code and machine learning solutions
Collaborate with engineering teams and product managers to share ideas and discuss model capabilities
Implement modern machine learning advancements to enhance buyer and seller experiences
Develop, optimize, and deploy large-scale machine learning models
Run A/B tests to evaluate machine-learning-powered products
Partner with product managers, ML engineers, full-stack engineers, and designers to deliver content to millions of users
Improve the shopping experience for Etsy buyers and the selling experience for Etsy sellers
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, which may change over time

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven track record using machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems
Expertise in natural language processing, image processing, reinforcement learning, deep learning, multi-modal learning, or large language models
Proficiency in databases, SQL, and scripting languages
Experience training, deploying, monitoring, debugging, and iterating on production machine learning systems
Ability to apply statistical techniques to real-world challenges
Experience taking projects from design to delivery independently and as part of a team
Ability to produce clear, testable, and maintainable code
Ability to develop project plans spanning multiple teammates, squads, and systems and lead implementation
Effective collaboration and communication with teammates and cross-functional partners
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and integrate them into existing workflows
Mindfulness of work's impact on end users
