About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define voice, tone, and conversational patterns across Etsy's end-to-end experience
- Ensure content patterns and glossaries are implementable and token-backed
- Create the content layer of Collage, Etsy's design system
- Build content guidelines at the component and pattern level
- Partner with Studio on content frameworks, guidelines, and production-ready copy
- Architect and maintain guidelines and prompt infrastructure for AI-generated copy
- Define AI content workflows and evaluation frameworks
- Help designers reason about content systemically through critiques, documentation, tooling, and office hours
- Evolve content work from reviewing strings to governing behavior
- Anchor the content community of practice and contribute to craft calibration
- Report to the Director of Content Design
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of content design experience
- Portfolio showing systems thinking and content craft
- Systems thinking and ability to diagnose root causes
- Strong writing sensibility, including tone, rhythm, and word choice
- Hands-on experience building AI tooling, including skills, prompt libraries, plugins, and evaluation frameworks
- Experience translating guidelines into structured, retrievable formats such as style guides, rubrics, or documentation
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and execute without a clear brief
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills
