About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead research across complex, ambiguous, and cross-functional problem spaces
- Define and lead a portfolio of research, prioritizing high-impact customer and business questions
- Translate insights into recommendations that influence strategy, roadmaps, and product decisions
- Design and execute foundational and evaluative research end-to-end
- Connect primary research, behavioral data, market trends, and existing knowledge
- Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics, and other teams
- Synthesize findings across teams and problem spaces
- Mentor researchers and elevate research quality and practice
- Report to the Director of Research
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep expertise across research methods
- Track record of leading complex, ambiguous problem spaces
- Strong research judgment
- Ability to develop and prioritize a research agenda
- Strong business judgment connecting customer needs and behaviors with product strategy, market context, and business priorities
- Skilled communicator able to influence senior stakeholders and synthesize complexity
- Comfort operating from hands-on execution to broader direction-setting and mentoring
- Ability to work with quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Ability to work within commuting distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn office preferred by the employer
