About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain software written in PHP
  • Evolve the OpenAPI platform by identifying friction and implementing features that improve developer experience
  • Partner with product engineering teams to build and roll out new features
  • Debug issues spanning multiple systems, determine root causes, and route or fix them
  • Collaborate with product, analytics, research, and other cross-functional partners to identify high-impact projects
  • Scope platform projects, stage delivery, and resolve architectural trade-offs
  • Write high-quality code and mentor teammates through PR reviews, pairing, and mentoring
  • Steer the team’s technical direction, projects, and processes
  • Set technical direction with team leads and design larger projects
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on OpenAPI feature rollouts and breaking changes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience with object-oriented software languages; majority of work is in PHP
  • Experience building and maintaining REST APIs, especially managing breaking changes
  • Experience using observability tools such as Grafana, HoneyComb, or Google Cloud Logging
  • Experience working with AI Agents and related tools, such as MCP servers and skills
  • Strong sense of ownership for the platform
  • Ability to think critically and independently
  • Close attention to detail and ability to translate business requirements into production-ready code
  • Strong communication with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Curiosity and ability to learn autonomously
