About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop external corporate communications strategies and plans for corporate and product stories
  • Partner with executive and functional teams on corporate brand stewardship, positioning and messaging
  • Own and update the company’s overarching narrative and message architecture across external channels
  • Obtain Executive Team and stakeholder approval for corporate branding strategy and content
  • Develop and draft website content, press releases, R&D Day materials and investor materials
  • Coordinate scientific, clinical and medical content with the CMO and relevant subject matter experts
  • Contribute to press releases, earnings releases, corporate updates and clinical trial milestone announcements
  • Prepare briefing materials for quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences and the annual report/MD&A narrative
  • Develop talking points and Q&A documents for investor, media and public forums
  • Support Investor Relations positioning materials, including corporate deck, fact sheet and website content
  • Coordinate external messaging calendars around clinical catalysts and disclosure obligations
  • Manage corporate social media presence on LinkedIn and X/Twitter
  • Support scientific and medical communications, including congress materials, advisory board materials, KOL communications, publications and disease-state education
  • Ensure scientific, clinical and medical communications receive appropriate review and approval
  • Maintain working fluency in disease areas and competitive landscapes
  • Support Commercial in defining audience-specific messages and proof points for healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, payers, investors and internal stakeholders
  • Report to the Chief Corporate Development Officer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field
  • Additional communications and/or journalism qualifications are an asset
  • 8–10+ years of progressively senior communications, investor relations, or public relations experience
  • At least 5 years in biotech, pharma, or life sciences
  • Understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, including clinical workflows, regulatory landscapes, reimbursement environments, and therapeutic areas such as GI, Immunology and/or specialty therapeutics
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to translate clinical and scientific data into clear, accurate, non-promotional external messaging
  • Experience developing and executing communication strategies and tactics
  • Demonstrated experience in public-company investor relations and financial communications, including press release drafting, disclosure coordination, and earnings-related materials
  • Working knowledge of Canadian and/or U.S. securities disclosure requirements
  • Familiarity working with a disclosure committee
  • Strong relationship-management skills with analysts and agency partners
  • Sound judgment under time pressure and during high-stakes or sensitive situations
  • Proven ability to work with and effectively influence leadership teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, decisive/deadline-oriented, heavily regulated environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a positive, collaborative manner
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with ability to multitask
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong initiative in identifying operational improvements
  • Clear communicator capable of presenting to senior management and key external stakeholders
