About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Transfer existing texts, images, and documents from the current website to the new content management system
  • Review, edit, and shorten existing texts for clarity, accuracy, and readability on the web
  • Draft new texts for project pages, programme descriptions, and other sections of the new website
  • Ensure consistency in terminology, structure, and style across the website
  • Prepare content in line with basic accessibility and SEO principles, including headings, alt texts, and link descriptions
  • Check links, metadata, and image rights, and track migration progress
  • Support the communications team with newsletter and social media references to the new website
  • Review existing pages and decide with the team what should be kept, revised, merged, or archived
  • Prepare content consistent with the new design and tone of voice

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Enrolled at a German university
  • Excellent written English and German
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to detail
  • Structured working style and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest in press freedom, journalism, human rights, democracy, or European civil society
  • Experience with WordPress or another CMS, basic HTML, SEO, web accessibility, or image editing tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is required
  • Previous experience in editorial work, journalism, communications, NGOs, or student media is an asset
  • 25 hours per week
