About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide counsel to Mt. Logan’s third-party capital management team on insurance-linked securities offerings and collateralized reinsurance vehicles
  • Advise on reinsurance-related aspects of strategic transactions, including capital markets transactions
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight on legal advice to Mt. Logan personnel
  • Prepare and/or review key ILS transactions, documentation and business proposals
  • Attend meetings and communicate with Mt. Logan management
  • Review and manage the outside counsel process
  • Assist in developing legal policies and procedures
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Prepare monthly reporting, quarterly reviews and other requested analysis
  • Manage and partner with outside counsel to ensure high-quality work product
  • Support time-sensitive, highly visible projects key to Everest Bermuda’s strategic initiatives
  • Support transactions and compliance in Investments, Treasury, Securities and Capital Solutions departments
  • Provide legal advice, draft and review documentation, conduct and manage due diligence, and provide transactional support for M&A, insurance/reinsurance transactions, capital markets activity and cross-functional projects
  • Provide updates to senior attorneys and coordinate with paralegals and compliance professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of law firm experience at a Top Tier law firm, and/or in-house with a major reinsurance or insurance company
  • Experience in financial services preferred
  • Strong experience advising on and supporting complex insurance, corporate, investment management and/or reinsurance transactions
  • Admitted and a member in good standing of the New Jersey, New York or other U.S. state bar association
  • Insurance or Reinsurance experience and transactional background
  • Experience with structured and bespoke (re)insurance solutions
  • Experience with CAT Bonds and Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS)
  • Experience with capital markets
  • Experience with collateralized sidecars/third party capital transactions preferred
  • Experience advising business clients on complex matters and emergent events
  • Strong negotiating and organizational skills
  • Analytical ability
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail and collaborative work style
