About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review and evaluate proposed changes to existing electric facilities for compatibility with Eversource protection system standards and practices
  • Create Protection and Control system designs according to Eversource standards
  • Specify materials for new or modified Protection and Control systems
  • Develop, calculate, and document settings and logic for protective relays, logic processors, feeder reclosers, and switches
  • Perform coordination studies using fault simulation software
  • Analyze protection system operations during transmission and distribution disturbances
  • Support Substation Technical Group event analysis
  • Interface with Planning, Operations, and Field personnel
  • Manage and perform work activities with training, guidance, and oversight from senior staff and management
  • Support storm and emergency restoration assignments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Zero (0) to four (4) years of related Electrical Engineering experience is required
  • Focus in electric power systems engineering preferred
  • No licenses or certifications required
  • Must not require immigration-related sponsorship to start employment with Eversource
  • Ability to travel to operating districts and companies within and outside the state
  • Ability to travel to electrical substations and generation facilities for site walkdowns and meetings
  • Ability to respond to emergency restoration assignments outside normal responsibilities, work hours, and location
