About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Directly support execution, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Company’s electric network modeling tools, including DMS and Synergi Electric
  • Provide guidance to electrical control centers on optimizing the distribution system for safe, reliable, and resilient energy delivery while maximizing clean energy resources
  • Support technology review and selection, project budget, scope, schedule, project management, reporting, tracking, and stakeholder engagement
  • Research and develop plans for distribution-system modernization opportunities
  • Investigate and assess new tools and technologies relevant to modernization and control of the electric distribution system
  • Engage with external counterparts, vendors, and stakeholders to promote industry best practices
  • Optimize the distribution system using DMS advanced functionality, including AFR, LVM, Planned Outage Study, and DER/Load Forecasting
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/Var Optimization, and load shedding
  • Collaborate with system operations control centers, IT, and engineering resources on DMS functionality and enhancements
  • Support specification and configuration of DMS advanced applications including FLISR, LVM, AFR, and Load and Generation Scheduling
  • Develop project approval documentation covering need, scope, technical solution, alternatives, risks, budget, and schedule
  • Investigate industry technologies and assess their relevance and benefit to system operations control rooms
  • Develop tools and methods to process and organize data from multiple sources to design and verify engineering models and databases
  • Support multidisciplinary teams across MA, CT, and NH

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 3–5 years related experience required
  • Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as load flow, voltage regulation, power factor, losses, and load and generation modeling
  • Experience modeling electric distribution systems
  • Thorough knowledge of distribution operational technologies including DMS, OMS, GIS, SCADA, EMS, and Synergi/Cyme
  • Basic understanding of communication systems and protocols such as DNP used in SCADA control systems
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience using qualitative tools in strategic development
  • Demonstrated business development aptitude and strong presentation skills
  • Must be available for emergency restoration assignments
  • Must be available to travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary
  • Occasional to significant travel by car may be required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to work up to five days in the office if needed
  • Must not require immigration-related sponsorship to start employment with Eversource
