About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise represented engineers and other staff
  • Manage, coach, develop, and review performance of engineers
  • Manage capacity increases, capital plan projects, system reliability, and ERP response
  • Strategically develop, expand, plan, design, maintain, and operate the transmission/distribution system and equipment
  • Coordinate evaluation of system failures and appropriate resolutions to support unplanned maintenance
  • Develop and manage the organization’s Life Cycle Plan over a multi-year horizon
  • Develop and manage a preventive maintenance optimization program
  • Develop preliminary engineering designs and detailed designs as necessary
  • Coordinate and prioritize Life Cycle Plan work across service areas and Electric Operations
  • Collaborate with Engineering colleagues to ensure consistency and teamwork
  • Provide technical support and direction during normal and emergency situations
  • Perform root-cause analysis and develop and implement corrective actions
  • Work with Investment Planning on project justification and financial rationing
  • Evaluate and select system technology and equipment
  • Develop standards and procedures for design, operation, and maintenance
  • Assume the role of Project Manager as required
  • Participate in emergency restoration assignments and travel to operating districts and companies as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
  • Must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed, including for emergencies, training, or other business needs
