About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, expand, plan, design, maintain, and operate transmission and distribution systems and equipment
- Coordinate evaluation of system failures and appropriate resolutions to support operations during unplanned maintenance
- Ensure transmission and distribution systems meet high-quality, safety, reliability, cost, and environmental standards
- Share accountability for the strategy, development, and design of the organization’s Life Cycle Plan
- Supervise, coach, and develop engineers; approve time and conduct performance reviews
- Assign, prioritize, and direct work performed by engineers and designers
- Manage cost and performance of assigned system assets, including reliability analysis, event trending, and equipment-condition monitoring
- Develop, justify, and approve multi-year Life Cycle Plan activities and ongoing projects
- Ensure accurate and timely designs, specifications, permits, and customer notifications for system additions, modifications, and replacements
- Develop preliminary engineering designs and detailed designs as needed
- Collaborate with Engineering engineers to ensure consistency and teamwork
- Provide technical support and direction to operating areas during normal and emergency situations
- Conduct root-cause analysis and develop and implement corrective actions
- Evaluate and select system technology and equipment
- Develop design, operation, and maintenance standards and procedures
- Assume the Manager’s role as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Eight years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail
- Working knowledge of standard office computer software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
