About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the clean energy transition in New England through analytical, economic, and strategic transmission services
  • Perform economic analyses of the clean energy transition in New England
  • Model the electricity sector and use of the transmission grid
  • Coordinate data, reports, presentations, and compliance filings for Eversource transmission projects to ISO New England
  • Serve as a transmission engineering subject matter expert in state, regional, and federal forums
  • Conduct economic capacity expansion, production cost, and probabilistic modeling analyses
  • Oversee engineers, analysts, and consultants performing technical analyses
  • Develop analytical products, visualizations, research, and advocacy materials supporting policy recommendations and outreach
  • Support business development, strategic planning, policy initiatives, and funding bid development
  • Engage cross-functionally with senior management, project partners, and third parties
  • Manage, coach, develop, and review engineers, analysts, and other staff
  • Research policies and studies affecting transmission business growth and modeling assumptions
  • Provide transmission data, simulation outputs, and knowledge to other Eversource groups
  • Advise state procurement evaluation teams on transmission network and interconnection issues
  • Scrutinize technical reports on clean energy resources' operational and economic impacts
  • May serve as an expert witness in state regulatory proceedings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Operations Management, Public Policy, Political Science, related degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Ten (10) to twelve (12) years of related experience in the electricity industry
  • Experience with electric production cost modeling tools such as PLEXOS, Gridview, PROMOD, or similar software
  • Knowledge of power system analysis software such as PSS/E, TARA, Powerworld, ASPEN Oneliner, etc.
  • Knowledge of major clean energy policy activities affecting transmission business
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, legislative, and industry trends in the energy sector and utility operations
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO/RTO processes and FERC open access transmission tariffs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with electric transmission and emerging utility technologies is highly desirable
  • Ability to work across functional and organizational boundaries is desirable
  • Must be available for emergency restoration assignments
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary and occasionally outside the service area
  • Must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed
