About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Distribution System Planning and DER Planning activities across New Hampshire
- Plan new bulk distribution substations and station upgrades for capacity or reliability needs
- Oversee DER system impact studies and non-wires alternative solutions, including battery storage applications
- Provide regulatory testimony, expert testimony, and rate case support
- Support regulatory filings and siting/permitting activities
- Develop and document processes and standards for system modeling, planning, and analysis
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers
- Lead development, documentation, and defense of New Hampshire’s integrated system plan
- Maintain and update Distribution System Planning and DER Planning Guides
- Coordinate with System Planning and other cross-functional departments
- Ensure system upgrade plans and programs are vetted, communicated, and aligned with the Company’s position
- Manage engineers, contractors, consultants, and project schedules
- Manage the five-year long-range plan for substation capacity and reliability projects
- Prepare corporate testimony and written responses for regulatory proceedings
- Interface with federal, state, and local organizations on behalf of Eversource
- Participate in internal committees, task forces, industry committees, and professional society working groups
- Prepare letters and reports for senior management supporting technical or policy positions
- Respond to emergency situations and accept Emergency Restoration assignments when required
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Distribution Planning in a utility environment or a related business area
- Management experience required
- Excellent knowledge of the electric power system and system planning
- Experience developing distribution system plans and procedures for capacity, reliability, and power quality
- Understanding of DER interconnection study methodologies and applicable tools, models, and assumptions
- Knowledge of DER technologies and adoption drivers
- Fundamental understanding of electric simulation software and power distribution system analysis, including steady-state and dynamic analysis
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulatory tariffs and provisions applicable to distribution and DER planning
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and drive team performance
- Highly developed written, presentation, persuasion, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers
- Strong personal initiative
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
- Regulatory experience preferred
