About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer, develop, and improve occupational safety and health programs
- Serve as a technical and internal management partner in preventing injuries and illnesses
- Ensure regulatory compliance and incorporate best practices into Eversource’s safety management system
- Develop, implement, monitor, and assess safety program effectiveness
- Provide program oversight and facilitation to field operations, field safety advisors, and safety vendors
- Provide feedback to Safety Managers and operations management on safety compliance and performance concerns
- Facilitate causal identification for program needs assessments and future program development
- Support Safety Managers with statistical analysis and safety and health program data
- Identify and coordinate resources needed to implement safety and health programs
- Act as Safety Manager in their absence
- Provide storm restoration and emergency assignments, including safety branch director responsibilities within the ICS system and emergency response plan
- Analyze, consult, design, implement, train, present, and coordinate safety initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Safety Management, Engineering, or equivalent combined education and experience
- Five to eight years of related experience required
- Program management skills and safety experience highly desirable
- Thorough understanding of the Company’s safety rules
- Knowledge of Eversource Operations’ practices and procedures
- Knowledge of construction site safety
- Knowledge of local and federal OSHA and DOT safety laws and State Departments of Public Safety requirements applicable to electric, gas, and water utility industries
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and sound safety management principles and practices
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong project leadership skills
- Willingness to work independently and with teams
- Willingness to build rapport and credibility with management and skilled craft workforce
- Must be available for emergency restoration assignments
- Must be available to travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary
- Must be available to travel occasionally beyond the assigned region
- Must be available to work on-call on a rotating basis
- Must satisfy safety-sensitive drug-testing requirements
