About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop estimates for major projects, typically over $1M
  • Standardize cost-estimating templates across the three-state territory
  • Collaborate with discipline engineering and support services to produce accurate and complete cost estimates
  • Identify and quantify project risks, contingencies, and clarifications
  • Present estimates to management during the review process
  • Incorporate direct costs, indirect costs, support costs, and overheads into project estimates using industry best practices
  • Maintain cost-estimating tools and databases, documenting estimates and updating them based on project actuals
  • Support process-improvement programs measuring estimate accuracy, man-hour estimates versus actuals, speed, and cost to develop estimates
  • Support QA/QC coordination and process improvement with Major Projects, Engineering, Operations, and other stakeholders
  • Travel to substations and rights-of-way across the Eversource territory as needed
  • Respond to emergency situations and perform Emergency Restoration assignments outside normal responsibilities, work hours, and location when required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project estimating, similar discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of eight (8) years in the technical, operational, estimating or engineering aspects of the electrical utility/construction industry
  • Four (4) years’ experience in one or more aspects of the job is required
  • Transmission experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of transmission and substation power system planning, engineering, maintenance, and operations
  • Strong technical knowledge and business acumen
  • Understanding of the Federal and New England Regulatory environment and its impact on the Transmission Business
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial documents
  • Working knowledge of information technology and Eversource office automation and information systems
  • Strong communication skills, including formal presentations and translating technical information for the audience
  • Project Accounting System Knowledge (Power Plan – FSSP)
  • Comprehensive electric industry estimating knowledge and experience
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with an estimating system desirable
  • No licenses or certifications required
  • Must not require immigration-related sponsorship to start employment with Eversource
