About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive procurement sourcing strategies for medium-dollar/complexity purchases
  • Manage bid processes and negotiate purchases of materials, equipment, and services
  • Support procurement requests related to natural gas and facilities services
  • Advise client groups on sourcing, contract management, and compliance with company and public-sector policies and procedures
  • Lead cross-functional teams through supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract implementation
  • Prepare RFPs, review bids, and negotiate with suppliers for assigned indirect-spend categories
  • Improve supply-base capabilities and business processes by implementing sourcing and contract-management best practices
  • Define, analyze, and prioritize client requirements in alignment with longer-term business strategy
  • Monitor supply-market trends and supplier economics
  • Plan sourcing events around contract end dates and transitions
  • Manage contract administration and coordinate with end users, suppliers, and business stakeholders
  • Resolve contract disputes and manage the full contract-management lifecycle when serving as contract manager
  • Negotiate and execute medium-dollar/complex contracts
  • Collaborate with Legal to review commercial terms and ensure SOWs properly define requirements
  • Develop and qualify sources, including conducting supplier site visits as required
  • Identify supply and quality problems and lead corrective actions
  • Build internal and external relationships, serve as a technical expert and role model, and coach less-experienced colleagues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Five (5) plus years of related experience
  • Demonstrated strategic sourcing/procurement experience, including purchasing, negotiating/drafting contracts, contract management, supplier development, and supplier qualification/certification
  • Advanced sourcing and procurement best-practice process knowledge
  • Purchasing knowledge, including expertise in the category area and full understanding of purchasing and inventory systems
  • Strong understanding of contract language, terms, and conditions
  • Solid understanding of business and financial principles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, influencing, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present to different organizational levels
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills, including managing conflict and encouraging collaboration
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with a third day determined by the employee and supervisor
  • Ability to work up to five days in the office if needed or if policy changes
  • Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment with Eversource will not be considered
  • MBA preferred
  • Prior commodity and supplier relationship management experience desired
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Six Sigma, Lean, Process, or Project Management certifications desirable
