About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead safe, timely, and efficient construction, operation, maintenance, and emergency restoration of electric distribution and transmission systems
  • Coordinate work among individuals, departments, utilities, municipalities, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Promote and enforce a safety-first work environment and positive safety culture
  • Make decisions and prioritize work to ensure safe and appropriate use of assigned resources
  • Set employee performance expectations, provide feedback, address performance issues, and conduct performance reviews
  • Apply local union contracts and agreements and help resolve grievances and concerns
  • Participate in pre-construction reviews and coordinate field operations
  • Ensure work is completed within budgetary guidelines
  • Prepare, review, and approve time, expense, materials, and company records
  • Resolve customer issues and promote a customer-first attitude
  • Monitor the work-planning process from initiation through closeout
  • Serve as primary construction liaison with Customer Care, Engineering, Warehousing/Transportation, Stations Operations, municipalities, and other utilities
  • Ensure job packages are construction-ready and materials are available for scheduled work
  • Coordinate external agencies and internal support to maintain critical paths on large projects
  • Support scheduling and produce accurate work schedules
  • Work with Outside Supervisors on emergent issues and customer-priority jobs
  • Prepare weekly and monthly status reports with district performance metrics
  • Fulfill storm-duty assignments and participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience required
  • Five to ten years of related experience required
  • Previous experience in electric distribution preferred
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred
  • Working knowledge of safe construction, operation, and maintenance of electric transmission and distribution facilities and infrastructure at secondary and primary operating voltages
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must maintain switching and tagging qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of computers and related technology
  • Ability to learn and utilize available information technologies
  • Ability to use PC desktop applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid Motor Vehicle License required
  • D.O.T. Driver’s License preferred
  • Must be available for emergency restoration assignments
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
  • Must be available for shift work, including weekends
  • Off-hour on-call responsibility required on a rotational basis
  • Must manage multiple activities simultaneously to meet deadlines and customer requirements
  • Must effectively relate to customers and the general public under stressful circumstances
  • Must clearly articulate job and safety information to employees and address performance issues constructively
  • Must respond to problem situations at all hours of the day or night
