About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and batch/serverless processing jobs
  • Ingest data from payments systems, marketplaces, SaaS tools, and other diverse sources
  • Build and operate event-driven integrations using messaging, queueing, and containerized workloads
  • Build and maintain change-data-capture pipelines for near-real-time replication of operational database changes
  • Participate in system design discussions and manage data platform infrastructure
  • Operate and optimize cloud data warehouses, databases, and orchestration tools for scalability and reliability
  • Collaborate with the BI team to deliver performant, reliable data models and datasets
  • Develop and maintain web services and APIs exposing validated datasets to downstream systems and regulatory reporting portals
  • Build data validation and transformation layers for regulatory compliance and audit standards
  • Monitor pipeline performance and data quality, troubleshoot issues proactively, and collaborate with Engineering, BI, Product, and Operations
  • Prepare and maintain datasets for ML and AI workloads
  • Explore data platform automation tools and LLM-based approaches for data discovery and metadata generation
  • Stay current with data engineering best practices, tools, and technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3+ years of combined software development and data engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on building data platforms
  • Proficiency in Linux, Python, Bash scripting, and strong SQL skills
  • Hands-on experience with backend services, APIs, and event-driven architectures, including Lambda, SNS, SQS, and messaging patterns
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure fundamentals: VPCs, security groups, IAM, DNS, and infrastructure as code with Terraform
  • Proficiency in Docker for containerization and working with ECS or similar container orchestration
  • Experience with large-scale data processing, data warehousing concepts, and backend systems for analytics and reporting
  • System design skills, including proposing architectures and articulating trade-offs
  • Familiarity with AWS services including S3, Lambda, RDS, Glue, and Redshift
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and collaborative mindset
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial systems is a plus
  • Java or other compiled languages is a plus
