Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct comprehensive vocational evaluations to assess employability, transferable skills, earning capacity, and ability to return to work
  • Evaluate the vocational impact of injuries, disabilities, medical conditions, and functional limitations
  • Perform transferable skills analyses, labor market research, wage analyses, and employability assessments
  • Assess pre-injury and post-injury vocational capacity and potential loss of earning capacity
  • Review medical records, employment history, educational records, earnings information, functional capacity evaluations, depositions, and other case materials
  • Interview and evaluate claimants or other involved individuals when appropriate
  • Research occupations, labor markets, wages, employment opportunities, and vocational alternatives
  • Collaborate with physicians, economists, rehabilitation professionals, and other experts to develop well-supported vocational opinions
  • Consult with legal teams regarding employability, earning potential, return-to-work options, and vocational damages
  • Prepare detailed expert reports based on accepted vocational rehabilitation methodologies
  • Provide expert witness testimony in depositions and trials, translating complex vocational findings into clear and defensible opinions
  • Stay current on developments in vocational rehabilitation, disability management, labor market trends, occupational data, and professional standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years of professional experience in Vocational Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Evaluation, Disability Management, or related field
  • Master's or advanced degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Counseling, or a related discipline strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience conducting vocational assessments, employability evaluations, transferable skills analyses, labor market research, and wage analyses
  • Deep understanding of vocational rehabilitation principles, disability assessment, earning capacity, employability, and return-to-work planning
  • Strong knowledge of accepted vocational evaluation methodologies, occupational resources, labor market research, and professional standards
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex medical, vocational, educational, and employment information and develop defensible professional opinions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex vocational concepts to attorneys, juries, and non-technical audiences
  • Prior expert witness, deposition, or courtroom testimony experience preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor), CVE (Certified Vocational Evaluator), ABVE certification, or comparable credentials strongly preferred
