About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute Standard and Limited audience-scoped releases, including configuring and verifying audience scoping
  • Execute approved hotfixes by cutting branches, shipping changes, and closing out releases
  • Define rollback paths per release type, make technical deployment-failure decisions, and execute rollbacks
  • Own technical and business go/no-go decisions for grouped releases and Release Readiness and Milestone Reviews
  • Assess shippability, dependencies, migration readiness, business readiness, technical coupling, and deployment-ordering constraints
  • Handle non-standard releases, including separate migrations, two-phase deployments, and sequencing schema changes ahead of dependent code
  • Produce a release manifest for every release covering contents, teams, commits, migrations, and configuration changes
  • Enforce branching, merge, squash, cherry-pick, release-branch, tagging, and version-discipline practices across repositories
  • Gate release-branch contents after cut and prevent drift, orphaned work, and long-lived unmerged work
  • Own the known-state, availability, scheduling, data refresh, and configuration parity of Devtest, Acceptance, Beta, and Production environments
  • Own the build-promotion and deployment pipeline end to end, reduce manual steps, and verify successful deployments
  • Maintain deploy-pending and validation statuses and report release frequency, cycle time, failed-deployment rate, rollback rate, hotfix rate, and hotfix-to-scheduled-release ratio
  • Run retrospectives for failed or rolled-back releases and maintain release runbooks and documentation
  • Produce and retain change-control records for every production push, including changes, approvals, validation, timing, and rollback paths
  • Serve as the release-history system of record for security, compliance, and customer audits
  • Derive cut dates and code-freeze windows from the Technical Delivery Manager’s release calendar, communicate and enforce them
  • Communicate release details and schedules to Sales, CS, leadership, and other stakeholders
  • Notify teams and stakeholders of deployment starts, completions, and failures in real time
  • Coordinate cross-team release dependencies before cut

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • U.S. citizenship and full-time U.S. residency
  • Availability for off-hours release work; releases commonly run outside business hours and reliable presence is required for most releases
  • Strong Git competency, including branching strategies, merges and squashes, cherry-picking, tagging, and Git workflows
  • Technical fluency in CI/CD pipelines, containers and images, build artifacts, frontend and backend systems, deployment architecture, and MySQL concepts including migrations, indexes, and database-change impacts
  • Proven release management experience in a SaaS environment, including managing multiple concurrent releases across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent project and process management, including tracking scope, chasing dependencies, enforcing process at gates, and designing processes where none exist
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, working closely with Engineering, QA, Product, and CS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Prior software engineering, engineering management, Agile/Scrum/Ops, or database experience preferred
  • AWS familiarity preferred
  • Regulated-industry release experience, including HIPAA, SOC 2, or FedRAMP change control, preferred
  • Zero-downtime deployment and database migration experience preferred
  • Feature-flag or progressive-delivery experience preferred
  • Scripting and automation experience, plus familiarity with defect tracking and configuration management tools, preferred
