About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the geotechnical management and monitoring of the E22 Block Cave Project
Shape geotechnical strategies
Deliver and optimise development design, massex chamber sequencing, cave performance, extraction level stability and ground support effectiveness
Provide expert technical guidance through advanced geotechnical analysis, numerical modelling and risk assessments
Influence mine planning decisions through geotechnical recommendations, instructions and operational risk management
Drive continuous improvement by introducing innovative monitoring technologies, automation initiatives and industry-leading geotechnical practices
Report to the Principal Mining Engineer as part of the Major Projects execution team

Requirements

What you’ll need

A Bachelor of Engineering in Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering
8+ years' experience within underground hard rock mining environments
Practical and strong geotechnical engineering experience, ideally within underground mining, cave mining or block cave operations
Experience in geotechnical analysis, monitoring ground support design, excavation stability and geotechnical risk management
Capability using geotechnical modelling software with experience in calibration
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and operational stakeholders
Experience with massex chamber design, vertical raise development, decline mining and rapid development mining (highly regarded)
Experience with cave establishment, cave propagation and cave performance monitoring (highly regarded)
Chartered Professional Engineer status or eligibility (highly regarded)
Exposure with a large scale underground project environment (highly regarded)
