About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise and manage daily activities of surgery coding and audit teams, including in-house and contract auditors
  • Allocate workload, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Conduct team meetings and communicate updates, performance results, challenges, and process changes
  • Ensure coding audits meet accuracy, quality, and productivity benchmarks
  • Review audit results, identify recurring issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Training teams on coaching and retraining
  • Monitor workflows and recommend process improvements
  • Support best practices in surgical coding operations
  • Ensure coordination between coding, auditing, and training functions
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, OIG, and other compliance regulations
  • Track performance metrics and prepare reports for senior management
  • Address audit discrepancies, process deviations, and non-compliance issues
  • Coordinate with audit teams, management, and clients
  • Participate in client calls and internal reviews
  • Support audit planning and resource allocation
  • Lead training sessions on current coding audits for multiple specialties
  • Develop curriculum, training handbooks, presentations, process manuals, and training materials
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and random chart audits
  • Organize coding-audit meetings and respond to coding questions
  • Research updated coding information and coding issues
  • Conduct coding reviews and training programs to assure coding quality
  • Ensure billed services are accurately coded
  • Analyze benchmarking profiles and provide coding and payer updates

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Medical Coding or Auditing experience in Surgery Coding (outpatient, Prof, APC, ASC etc.)
  • CPC, COC or other AAPC/AHIMA coding certification
  • 7+ years relevant coding experience
  • 3+ Years After Certification is must
  • Auditing experience – desired
  • Radiation Oncology coding/auditing experience – desired
