About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform in-depth reviews of selected inpatient medical records to ensure assigned codes and DRGs are supported by clinical documentation
  • Ensure diagnoses and procedures are coded with required specificity
  • Verify discharge disposition and POA accuracy
  • Apply IPPS methodology
  • Mentor and train other coders
  • Provide ongoing feedback and education to coding staff and Clinical Documentation Specialists
  • Follow all SOP requirements and project-related protocols
  • Complete audits with quality and achieve quality and production targets
  • Escalate issues and identify trends
  • Update productivity, clarification, and other applicable logs daily
  • Consult the Manager/TL for clarifications
  • Respond promptly to manager emails
  • Ensure team compliance with HIPAA and OIG requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's in nursing (preferable) / Bachelor's in science
  • Certification mandatory: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) and CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in IP DRG coding or auditing
  • Auditing experience on IP DRG
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Exposure to 3M software and NLP tool
  • Good Excel skills
  • Flexibility
  • Good communication
  • Working 40 hours per week as a full-time employee
