About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute on-site concrete tests, including casting cylinders, slump tests, and air content tests
  • Perform in-place density testing using a nuclear densometer
  • Carry out asphalt and concrete coring
  • Collect soil and asphalt samples on site
  • Conduct laboratory testing, including concrete cylinders, grain size analysis, Proctor tests, asphalt tests, and geotechnical index testing
  • Perform subgrade field reviews
  • Solve project site issues
  • Attend staff and project meetings when requested
  • Interact with clients and contractors to provide excellent service and quick responses to testing needs
  • Work closely with Project Engineers/Managers and the Discipline Manager
  • Conduct construction observations and confirm construction materials design elements
  • Conduct materials quality assurance/control testing and reporting in the field and laboratory

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of, or current enrollment in, a recognized Civil Engineering Technology diploma program is considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in concrete, asphalt, and soil testing
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in field environments on active construction sites
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and client groups
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Willingness to work night shifts and weekends as required
